THANK YOU...

~ To every single #Ward9 resident
I met along my campaign.

~ To all of the stakeholders in
#Ward9 who took the time to
speak with me, hold forums, and for
your advocacy work.

~ To every single person
who supported my campaign,
from every single lens.

~ To every single person
who rooted for me and told me
never to ever quit,
by reminding me that
this endeavour has been
in my heart for
the majority of my adult life
.

With the sincerest of thanks,

~ Lori

WHY I’M RUNNING TO BE YOUR
NEXT WARD 9 COUNCILLOR

I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT THE ROLE OF A COUNCILLOR IS ALL ABOUT CITIZEN REPRESENTATION, AND TO ME THAT MEANS HONEST, TRANSPARENT COMMUNICATION,
AND OPEN COLLABORATION,

I have had a very successful career in Strategic Marketing & Communications.

I am a strong communicator who believes in the power of listening to people and gathering information from diverse sources before recommending a way forward that meets people’s needs while respecting economic realities. I am a curious investigator of human behavior. I love to question, observe, and analyze and then design ways forward to prove to people that they have been heard and understood.

~ I PROMISE TO LISTEN TO YOU AND ENSURE YOU KNOW YOU’VE BEEN HEARD AND UNDERSTOOD ~

Calgary is at a critical time, and we need a council that will not hold us back from progressing in meaningful ways for ALL Calgarians. We’ve learned that piecemeal ideological ideas haven’t worked well, and we end up spending millions of dollars on projects that ultimately mean nothing to the average Calgary taxpayer. Often, many of these projects are approved without meaningful consultation with the key stakeholders and that is not acceptable. I believe that every stakeholder should have the opportunity to have a say in projects that will affect them.

Part of transparency for a councillor begins as a candidate. A very loud part of this election has been the infusion of funds from PAC's, TPA's, and special interest groups. I am running to be your councillor for you, the people. I am extremely proud to say that I have not received any favors, ads, signs, human resources, or money from any of these groups. I am coming to council unbeholden to groups that paid to get me elected. My campaign is self-funded with a few donations from my friends and family.

WARD 9 IS READY FOR CHANGE

WHY I’M THE BEST CHOICE TO BE YOUR COUNCILLOR (AKA ADVOCATE)

I am a born and raised third generation Calgarian and I love this city fiercely. I currently reside in the community of Inglewood with my awesome dog Frank (which I hope you get to know along my campaign).

I grew up in a house where the news was always on and my parents engaged in lively conversations about politics on all levels: federal, provincial and municipal. My Mom introduced me to municipal politics at a young age through her work on several campaigns for a former long-term successful female Councillor. My mother’s values taught me a lot about the importance of participating in the political process to support my belief that in order to effect change you have to be a part of the process.

MY PRIORITIES, FOR YOU

Like the rest of us, I am worried about the scars the pandemic will leave behind. I have heard from residents that the scars are deep and electing a council with dedication to healing those scars is imperative. This coming election is a way for Calgarians to move through the challenges that we currently face ~ and electing a council who can see these obstacles as opportunities for growth is necessary. We need a council who can face the reality of where we are, where we can go, and how we can get there.

These are the priorities I intend to prioritize to move Ward 9 and Calgary forward:

  • Citizen Representation

  • Mental Health and Addictions

  • Making Smart Spending Decisions

  • Complete Communities

WHY I’M THE BEST CHOICE TO BE YOUR COUNCILLOR (AKA ADVOCATE)

My professional life involves strategic communications management roles ~ the majority of this time has been spent working for local homebuilders and residential community developers (yes, suburban) where thousands and thousands of Calgarians’ dreams for home ownership have come true. I've also had a super fun Director role over at TELUS Spark (FKA Calgary Science Centre) as well as a Vice President's role with the Calgary International Children’s Festival.

As a member of city council I will embrace the responsibility of helping to shape the future of Ward 9 and Calgary as a whole ~ this is an obligation I won’t take lightly and my success is 100% reliant upon hearing all of your voices.

When elected, my focus will be to get back to the most important tenet of Government - the People. I won’t lose sight of that. My goal is to meet you where you are at ~ I will listen to you and ensure you know you’ve been heard and understood. I intend to set up the Ward 9 office so that each community in Ward 9 will have their very own advocate to contact when issues arise, additionally, I will hold quarterly Ward 9 community roundtables so that our Ward 9 team can hear directly from you what issues are important to you.

I live my life based on two fundamental beliefs: "take action" and "do the right thing” and intend to serve the residents and businesses of Ward 9, and all citizens of Calgary, ethically and with the highest level of integrity.
